One thing I used to enjoy is watching BookTV on Cable TV on the weekends.  Book-TV highlights non-fiction authors, and the events take place all over the country. It is no longer shown on our local Comcast cable- but the shows are available online at http://www.booktv.org

All of these books are listed on our website - cut and paste the book title or isbn# (starting with 978) into the Book Search box. It will tell you if we have the book on hand in Village Square Booksellers, or if it is available at our distributors. We order twice a week, with most books coming in the next day. Items can be picked up at the bookstore or we can ship them out.      Podcasts of previous broadcasts

Pat Fowler has been involved in Bellows Falls Middle School's 21c afterschool program, both as a member of the Advisory Board an as a volunteer Instructor, holding a book club.

Village Square Booksellers has held Book Fair in our Elementary School and Middle School for several years. The students visit the library to prepare their wish lists during the day. During the book fair, parents and other relatives can visit the school during the Open House to make their purchases. The Book Fair benefits the school's Library or PTO who have helped organize the event. I enjoyed seeing the students- many of whom recognize me from reading aloud oin their classroom or from the Saxtons River Winter Sports Program - Alan used to volunteer for skiing at Okemo, I helped with the Cross Country and snow shoeing programs.

All of our schools have students taking the NECAP tests. The Bellows Falls Union High School School and Community Relations Committee had a project to feed a snack to all of the students before test prep and a full breakfast for the juniors on testing days. We solicited donations from area businesses to help pay for the food and some of us worked on snack preparations (stuffing bags with milk, fruit, bagels & cream cheese in our case- Alan & I both volunteered to stuff the 300+ bags). members of the committee help serve at one of the breakfast meals during the week.  Village Square Booksellers donated apples from Saxtons River Apples and Orange Juice and yogurts for one of the breakfast. Many of the committee and school board members donated items, or volunteered to help bag the snacks or serve breakfast, including Jan Mitchell-Love, Dave Clark, Jack Bryar, Laurie Rowell, Joe & Hope Brissette.

Pat read at Central and Saxtons River School's breakfast program for about six years and has read in various classes at Saxtons River, Central, Westminster, and North Walpole Schools. Alan has taped the school board meetings for FACTV.

If you would like to have Pat read aloud to your class, contact her at 802-463-9404.  She also has a Winnie the Pooh costume and can read aloud in costume. Winnie can also help out at reading challenge award ceremonies, etc.
