WOOL ANNOUNCES PROSE AND POETRY READING, THURSDAY, MAY 13, 2010.
RENOWNED AUTHOR EDITH HUNTER AND AWARD-WINNING POETS
PATRICIA FARGNOLI AND TIM MAYO TO APPEAR AT EXCLUSIVE BELLOWS FALLS EVENT.

Community radio station, WOOL, Black Sheep Radio, today announces a reading by Edith Hunter, Patricia Fargnoli, and Tim Mayo, on May 13, 2010 in Bellows Falls, Vermont. The event is titled, “...so we can hear...”

This exclusive event is a fundraiser for the volunteer-operated radio station. WOOL is non-profit and community-owned. Organized in response to a challenge grant from an area donor, this event will feature reading by some of the area’s most esteemed literary figures. The goal of the challenge grant is $2000.00

“We are very lucky to have this opportunity,” said station volunteer Bob Ross, “We hope our listening community rises to the challenge and helps us reach our challenge goal. Even if they can’t attend, our supporters can contribute by mail and online.” There are only thirty-five seats available on May 13. To reserve a seat please email reading@blacksheepradio.org. The presenters for this exclusive event are:

Edith Hunter, is a longtime commentator on Vermont Public Radio,. Now 90 years old, Mrs. Hunter was born in Boston, attended Wellesley College and Union Theological Seminary. She is the author of hundreds of articles and six books, including the American classic, “Child of the Silent Night.” Mrs. Hunter’s commentary on VPR, titled, "Edith Hunter on the Center Road," has charmed area listening audiences since 2002. Mrs. Hunter resides in Weathersfield Center, VT, and was the co-editor of the Weathersfield Weekly for fifteen years.

A retired social worker, Ms. Fargnoli has been the recipient of a Macdowell Colony fellowship. She’s been on the residence faculty of The Frost Place Poetry Festival, and has taught at the New Hampshire Institute of Art and in the Lifelong Learning program of Keene State College. She was the recipient of an honorary BFA from The NH Institute of Arts, has won the Robert Frost Foundation Poetry Award and 6 Pushcart nominations. She has published widely in literary journals such as Poetry, Ploughshares, North American Review, Mid-American Review, Alaska Quarterly, Massachusetts Review, etc.  Ms. Fargnoli currently resides in Walpole, NH.

Tim Mayo’s poems have appeared in Atlanta Review, Arbutus, Avatar Review, Babel Fruit, Big Toe Review, The Chrysalis Reader, Del Sol Review, 5 AM, Inertia Magazine, Mannequin Envy, Poet Lore, The Rose & Thorn Literary E-zine, Verse Daily and The Writer’s Almanac.  Among the awards his poetry has garnered are two International Merit Awards from Atlanta Review; he was also a finalist in the 2007 Winning-Writers.com War Poetry Contest and twice nominated for the 2008 Best of the Net Anthology, once by Babel Fruit and once by The Rose and Thorn Literary E-zine.

Mr. Mayo’s most recent publication The Kingdom of Possibilities (Mayapple Press) was a semi finalist for the 2009 Brittingham and Pollock Awards, a finalist for the 2007 Main Street Rag Award, a finalist for 2009 May Swenson Award and lastly (pant, pant, pant), he was a finalist for the 2009 Paumanok Award.  He is a former member of the Brattleboro Literary Festival author committee and lives in Brattleboro, Vermont where he works as a substitute teacher for the WSESU.

When: The event takes place on Thursday, May 13th, at 6:00pm. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free but donations to the challenge grant are encouraged.
