VSB News Sept 2011

Village Square Booksellers, 32 the Square in Bellows Falls, is pleased to welcome T Namaya for a multi-media performance on Wed. September 7 at 7pm. The show is a collection of music, stories, and multimedia created by performance artist, storyteller and poet T. Namaya.  Vermont My Home: A Celebration is an eloquent and, at times, humorous, show celebrating his home in the forest sanctuary of Blue Heron Pond.

T.Namaya – Is an international performance artist, jazz poet, story-teller, and humorist.  He has performed around the world in theaters and clubs in Europe, Asia (Japan, Malaysia, Australia, & New Zealand), though out the USA, and in the past year Palestine and Syria.  He has performed with his band “Jazz Beat Poetry Ensemble,” and as a solo artist with his show “GOD SEX POLITICS,” and “Imagine this” a show completely improvised with the audience in NYC.  Described as, “The high wire performance artist of the spoken word.”

His 2011 show is based on his new CD “Vermont My Home: A celebration” is a multimedia performance based on Namaya’s stories, music, songs, and photographs.  “It is a celebration of my home on Blue Heron Pond, characters like my neighbor Josiah, the wayward monk Li Pon, and this 5 season paradise we call Vermont.” It is a story about traveling around the world, but always coming home to Vermont. Namaya will have copies of his new book, as well as his new CD for sale.  A portion of the sales of his work supports community projects at GRACE Cares such as Hurricane Irene Flood relief. T Namaya will be bringing books and CD's to the event, so call 802-463-9404 for book and event reservations.

Sunday Nov 6 save the date- Our Place Empty Bowl

New Items:
Box Girls from Melissa & Doug- Party & Family Games- great for party favors, parties, kids in the car. Don’t let the name fool you, The Box Girls conversation cards are perfect gifts for girls and boys. Each box contains 40-60 cards with questions that are intended to start fun, meaningful conversations.  Each box has a different theme. We especially like the “Slumber Party” or “BFF” boxes for gifts.

We have also received lots of different stuffed animals and new Zoobies. 2012 Calendars are starting to show up too.

Hope everyone is recovering from Hurricane Irene.  If there is anything Village Square Booksellers can do to help, please email me back. Happy to collect donations, donate raffle items for fundraisers, etc. Some non-perishable goods were collected Sunday at WOOL & made their way to Our Place. Our Place has seen their lunch traffic grow from 30 to 60 over the past week.  Any donations are appreciated. TARPS has had 9 animals end up at the shelter since the hurricane hit, including a chinchilla - they can always use some help/donations caring for the animals.

Thanks to everyone for pulling together and helping their neighbors. Sadly, many farms, businesses and homes were destroyed. It will take time to heal our community.
